Deaf Ministry

WHO WE ARE…

The Deaf Ministry began at Burleson Church of Christ in October 2023. BCOC officially installed Michael and Kim Cantrell to start their ministry on July 1, 2023. Being part of the body of Christ at BCOC is truly a blessing. Since starting with over twenty members, the Deaf Ministry has been slowly growing month by month.  This ministry is an excellent place to experience a Passion for God, a Commitment to the Body, and a Heart for Service. Come and join us as we desire to seek God.

WHAT WE ARE ABOUT…

  • PASSION FOR GOD

We believe God’s love comes first, and we provide people opportunities to experience and grow their Passion for God as they constantly walk with Jesus “in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own Kingdom and glory.” – 1 Thessalonians 2:12.

  • COMMITMENT TO THE BODY

We believe in the power of community within the Church, where we can provide these believers opportunities to Commit to the Body by embracing the apostles’ teachings, fostering fellowship, having the breaking of bread, and engaging in prayer – Acts 2:42-47.

  • HEART FOR SERVICE

We believe that we are made to serve others, as did Jesus – Matthew 20:28 because our ultimate goal is for all members to develop a Heart for Service in order to glorify the Lord our God who is in heaven – Matthew 5:16.

WHEN WE MEET…

  • SUNDAY CLASS (ROOM W-107) – 9:45 AM

On Sunday mornings, we study various Biblical lessons that help us learn more about God’s word and see how He changes our lives when we put His word into practice.

  • SUNDAY DEAF WORSHIP (IN THE CHAPEL) – 10:45 AM

On Sunday mornings, our Deaf worship service allows us to spend time for the songs of praise to our Lord, the Lord’s Supper, and the word of God.

However, one Sunday a month, we join our hearing gathering in the auditorium to worship and glorify God.

  • WEDNESDAY DEAF CLASS – 7:00 PM

On Wednesday evenings, we study various Biblical lessons that allow us to discuss any issue applicable to our practical life, look for answers from the Word of God, and grow our knowledge of Jesus Christ.

  • TIMES OF DEVOTION AND FELLOWSHIP

Exciting events will be scheduled for both enjoyable and spiritual formation for our Deaf ministry.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to provide an environment where believers seek God, find answers from His Word as they mature, grow their faith, and proclaim the gospel of salvation to all people, in all places, at all times, teaching them to love and obey God, and finally being faithful to Him and His church – Matthew 28:18-20.

Vision Statement:

Our vision is to ensure that every believer in any season of life would engage in an intimate relationship with Christ and help them fulfill the Great Commission locally, across America, and worldwide to expand His kingdom.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB)

Why are we here?

Deaf People Need Jesus because…

Only 2% of the world’s approximately 70 million Deaf people have ever heard the gospel. Therefore, 98% of the Deaf in the world have never heard the saving message of Jesus. “Because they have lost their hearings, must they lose their souls?” – unknown author.
