The Burleson church of Christ has a very rich history of more than 80 years. It was started from humble beginnings and has grown into the thriving church that it is today. God has truly blessed this church with numeric and spiritual growth over the years.
The Burleson church of Christ began in 1933 with five members. They met in an old Presbyterian building until, in 1938, they moved to a rented building on Main Street which had previously housed the post office. After about a year, the congregation relocated to a small building on Commerce Street that had formerly been a café.
In 1940 the Burleson church of Christ moved into their first permanent home, a 30×40 foot building, located at 141 East Renfro Street. Due to an increase in members, in 1960 the congregation built their second permanent home, a brick building with a seating capacity of 365, across the street at 116 Clark Street. The congregation continued to grow throughout the decade and in May of 1969 the building at 820 S W Wilshire was constructed with a seating capacity of 800.
This location served the Burleson church of Christ for a number of years. In 1973, an annex building was added which provided nine classrooms and one large fellowship room. In 1978, the campus was again enlarged with the addition of a 17,000 square foot multipurpose building that included large multi-purpose classrooms, meeting rooms, as well as the church office. A second worship service was added in 2000 and the congregation was pushing the limits of our classroom space; the need for a new building in which to meet had become evident yet again. In 2003, the congregation began a building fund for the new building and in June 2012, the church held its first worship service at our current location, 1150 NW John Jones Dr.
